Ciprofloxacin, a common antibiotic, is widely prescribed to combat bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), respiratory tract infections, and skin infections. This widespread use, along with its ability to effectively control a broad range of pathogens, has contributed to its increasing global prevalence. While ciprofloxacin has been used in the treatment of UTIs and other infections, it has also been found to be effective in treating certain sexually transmitted infections, including those caused byUreaplasma urealyticum.
The use of ciprofloxacin in treating various bacterial infections is not limited to infections caused byUreaplasmaspecies. This species of bacteria affects the respiratory tract and can infect various body tissues, such as skin, bone, and lung tissues, leading to symptoms such as difficulty breathing, pain, and swelling. Additionally, ciprofloxacin is known to have antibacterial properties and may be used in combination with other medications to combat bacterial infections.
Ciprofloxacin, which is primarily used to treat various bacterial infections, has gained recognition for its role in the management of UTIs by targeting various bacteria, including those responsible for urinary tract infections (UTIs) and respiratory tract infections (RTIs). By targeting theUreaspecies, ciprofloxacin has shown a range of therapeutic effects, including bactericidal activity against, helping to eliminate infections at the source and facilitating the resolution of symptoms.
However, to the best of our knowledge, the application of ciprofloxacin to treat UTIs and other bacterial infections is still limited. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of ciprofloxacin in treating UTIs and RIs, and to further explore the potential applications of this antibiotic in treating bacterial infections. This study aimed to provide an updated understanding of the application of ciprofloxacin in treating UTIs and other bacterial infections, and to investigate its applications in RIs.
This was a prospective observational study. Patients with UTIs (UTIs) diagnosed between January 2012 and December 2017 at our institution between January 2015 and December 2018 were included. The study protocol was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of our institution (CEF/15/039/0004) and the Institutional Review Board of the University of Zagazig (IRB/IRB/N.12/H. U. Z., Zagazig-IRB/2017/0004).
All patients provided written informed consent prior to the study, and the research was conducted in accordance with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of our institution (CEF/15/039/0004) and the Institutional Review Board of the University of Zagazig (IRB/IRB/N.12/H.
The study was conducted between January 2012 and December 2017 at our institution. Patients with UTIs (UTIs) who were diagnosed between January 2012 and December 2017 at our institution between January 2015 and December 2018 were eligible for inclusion. The inclusion criteria were a diagnosis of UTIs with or without a UTI within the previous seven days, or a history of UTIs in the past 7 days. Patients with a history of UTIs in the past 7 days, a history of UTIs in the past 2 days, and a positive urine culture forwere excluded. Therefore, 30 UTIs, 30 RIs, and 30 cases of UTIs in the previous 7 days were included in this study. The remaining 30 cases were included in the current study. The participants were enrolled between January 2015 and December 2018. All participants provided written informed consent, and the research was conducted in accordance with the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
The primary outcome was the incidence of UTIs (UTIs) among patients who were diagnosed with UTIs at the time of enrollment. The secondary outcome was the incidence of UTIs among the 30 cases with UTIs.
